Overview
The Christmas Market celebrates its 10th anniversary this year

Founded in 2006, the Christmas Market celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. It is recognised as one of the best in Europe and loved for its unique location—nestled beside the cathedral in its historic close and surrounding a real ice rink. Find over 100 chalets filled with high quality exhibitors, hand-picked for their interesting, unique and exclusive products. The focus on British crafts, independent traders and artisan festive foods, as well as regular performances by local choirs, really does make this market stand out from the rest.

Access and facilities

The Christmas Market is situated in the Cathedral Inner and Outer Close. Although there is wheelchair access throughout the site, we cannot provide access to all of our chalets. We have a team of stewards on duty at all times who are happy to provide assistance if requested.
Disabled toilets and baby changing facilities are available in the Cathedral Visitors’ Centre.

Group bookings

Tour operators and group organisers visiting the Christmas Market are asked to contact the Cathedral’s Visitor Team on 01962 857 225 or email visits@winchester-cathedral.org.uk .

Although entry to the Christmas Market is free the Cathedral does ask that all coaches book in advance as it helps to manage coach drop off and parking in the city, providing the best service to your tour-goers. The Cathedral offers a ‘meet and greet’ service for groups and can assist in arranging entry and tours of the Cathedral and refreshments.
