Event highlights
Opening night
A paper lantern procession will take place on Thursday 25 November. Take part by attending one of the paper lantern workshops or simply turn up to witness this spectacular event.
Nativity
Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus and to help tell this wonderful story there will be a nativity scene within the Christmas Market. The characters have been made by local artist Sophie Hacker using drawings by students at Osborne School, one of the UKs largest secondary schools for children with complex learning difficulties. The Nativity is one of a number of activities undertaken by Winchester Cathedral as part of our learning and outreach work. In addition, the Christmas story will come alive at our special ‘storytelling’ sessions for children and families leading up to Christmas.
